LEARNING OUTCOME #1

Through my drafts and revisions on Project #3, I feel as thought I completed the goals of learning outcome #1. One of the major changes I made between drafts was from draft 2 to draft 4. I added more detail into my essay such as evidence from quotes that I then discussed and connected to my personal views of what I’ve learned during the COVID-19 pandemic. Draft 2 only included an introduction paragraph with a thesis and then 2 body paragraphs without quotes so going to draft 4 was a big change. Draft 4 was the draft where I had reached the word count range so following this, my main focus turned to making revising moves and changes. After having my paper peers reviewed, I made the global revisions by expanding more on ideas that I didn’t explain enough that my peers identified for me. One of my peers said that two of my paragraphs were missing what lesson I learned from either a connection I made, a peer or the journals from the 1918 pandemic, so I went back and added the lesson learned connection into the paragraph to tie it together. I also had to make local revisions such as adding or removing commas, rewording a sentence or breaking up a sentence that was too long. These comments from my peers helped me to identify where I need to make changes to my paper. Another piece of the development of my paper was from working with Vic. I shared the outline and ideas of my essay and she gave me feedback on if the connections I was making followed the concept of the paper. She also read over my thesis to see if the ideas I had followed my essay. These revision moves I made show that I am working towards developing a well written essay to my final draft. The major moves I made between my total of 5 drafts helped me reach my final draft that I felt confident in turning in. By working with Vic, completing peer reviews and a successful drafting process, I am assured that I completed learning outcome #1.
